To be bound
Bound to me
Invisibly tied
I and you, side by side
But where do we find our boundary?
Where you start
And I begin
The precious, sacred self
How do I honour thee?
First I seek to really see you
And seek too to really see me
I must hear you, with all ears
And I must listen, to really hear me
Without judgment
But with arms and heart open wide
And ground firmly dug beneath our soles
Holding all
I may be more physically able
But not necessarily more capable
As I learn to delineate
Walls that make you feel safe
They that bind us
Whilst you depend
Yet carve the footing
For future adventuring,
Bouncing, leaping, jumping forth
As you grow tall as the trees
I hope, sweet child
My bounding serves you well
